Dorothy Keen

Dorothy Lou Keen, 76, of Weston, West Virginia, passed away at 3:30 p.m. On Monday, November 21st, 2016, at her home following a brief battle with cancer. She was born in Allen County, Kentucky on February 4th, 1940: the youngest daughter of Ira Lee Meador, Sr. and Pearl Barger Meador. On August 18th, 1956, she was married to Elder Stanley L. Keen and celebrated 58 years of marriage before his passing on October 15th, 2014. She is survived by daughters Pam (Jesse) Driver of Maryland and Shannon (Rick) Thomas of Horner, West Virginia and Grandchildren: Cliff (Amy McCormick fiancé) Driver, Jenn (Matt) Driver Simpson, Connor Thomas and Ethan Thomas. She is survived by one sister, Bobbie Sue Sims, of Scottsville, Kentucky; two sisters-in-law: Shirley Meador of Scottsville, Kentucky and Beatrice Meador of Louisville, Kentucky and one brother-in-law Don Curtis of Westmoreland, Tennessee and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by eight siblings: Louise Cassidy, Ewell Meador, Camilla Huntsman, Geneva Britt, Billy Meador, Jennie Holbrook, Greta Ransom, and Ira Lee Meador, Jr. She was employed at Imperial Reading/American Greeting in Lafayette, Tennessee for 26 years until she moved to Buckhannon, West Virginia with Elder Keen for missionary work. She then worked at Moore's Business Forms and Stone and Thomas/Elder Beerman for 27 years, where loyal customers loved and cherished her personal touch. Dorothy was saved by the grace of God in August of 1950 when she was 10 years old. She lived a dedicated life as a preacher's wife; transporting children to church, teaching Sunday School and giving piano lessons to teach the youth to play music for the glory of God. She also played keyboards in a gospel group with her family. Everything in her life was focused on honoring and glorifying God. She was a praying friend. Dorothy was a faithful and loving member of Churchville Old-Time Missionary Baptist Church. She was a member of the General Grand Chapter Order of the Eastern Star #379 of Lafayette, Tennessee. Visitation will be held at Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Churchville Old-Time Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, November 26th, 2016 with Visitation at 10:00 a.m. and the service beginning at 11:00 p.m. with burial at the Masonic Cemetery, Weston, West Virginia. Brother Jim Carter will be officiating with Elder Phillip Brawner conducting preliminaries and Elder Ricky White leading prayer. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to Churchville Old-Time Missionary Baptist Church at P.O. 489, Weston, West Virginia 26452.
