Anna Crandall Obituary

Anna Fallon Crandall, 89, of Pawcatuck, CT, died on December 23, 2016 at Royal Westerly, in Rhode Island. Anna was born at The Westerly Hospital to Mabel and Raymond Fallon. She attended St. Michael’s School and Stonington High School, and married Donald Crandall in 1951. Anna achieved a fifty-year career at the Westerly Sun, starting as a circulation clerk and becoming head bookkeeper. She was active in many organizations including the Stonington Historical Society and was President of The Friends of the Westerly Public Library where she was instrumental in raising money at the annual book fairs. Anna was an advocate for the environment and for animals, owning many pets and caring for outdoor wildlife. Anna and her good friend, Joan Downes, enjoyed many years of antiquing – finding, repairing and selling many items. Anna is survived by her sister-in-law, Theresa Fallon; her nephew Dick Fallon and friend Deb Fox; nieces, Ann Fallon, Donna Page and Susan Fallon; many grandnieces and nephews; and two great-great grandnephews A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10:00am on Friday, January 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s Church, 95 Main St., Stonington. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Road, Newington, CT 06111 or St. Michael’s Capital Campaign, 60 Liberty St., Pawcatuck, CT 06379 in Anna’s memory.
