Robert D. George

<p>Attorney Robert D. George, 87, of New Castle, passed away the morning of December 22, 2016 at his residence. Born on March 8, 1929 in New Castle, he was the son of the late Tony and Alice Solomon George. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 57 years, the former Barbara Mitchell, whom he married on September 5, 1959.</p><p><br></p><p>Robert practiced law for many years, and he also served as the Deputy State Attorney General for the Lawrence County Region and the Juvenile Master for Lawrence County for 20 years. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War Era. Robert earned degrees from Penn State University and University of Pittsburgh Law School. He was a member of the Lawrence County and PA Bar Association. Robert also belonged to Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church. He was 32nd Degree York Rite Mason and a member of the Shriners.</p><p><br></p><p>In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by his children, Amy George Manley and husband Joseph of Cherry Hill, NJ, Judith George of New Castle, Robert D. George II of West Virginia, and Mary Alice George Gaittens of Quakertown, PA; brother, Reverend James George of New Castle; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Fred, Mike, Tom, and Sam George, and sisters, Phoebe Farris, Joan Moses, and Margaret Miller. </p><p><br></p><p>Honoring his wishes, there are no calling hours, and memorial services will be held at a later date.</p>
