John R. Erickson, 69, of New Castle, passed away the morning of January 1, 2017 at his residence. Born on May 3, 1947 in Anoka, MN, he was the son of the late Richard A. and Marie Klinkenberg Erickson. Surviving at home is his beloved wife of 41 years, the former Helen Beck, whom he married in May 1975.

John retired as a computer operator. He also served his country as a member of the U.S. Army. He enjoyed gardening.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his children, Heidi Manning and husband Brian of Raleigh, NC, Mark Erickson of Bluffton, SC, Robyn Erickson of Bluffton, SC, and Matthew Erickson of New Castle; brothers, Robert Erickson and Michael Erickson, both of Naples, FL; sisters, Jean Vinson of Naples, FL and Ann Brant of Asheville, NC; and five grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. Memorial services will be conducted Wednesday at 1:00pm at the funeral home, officiated by Reverend Bill Beck.
