James H. Stumpf Obituary

James H. Stumpf, 61, of New Castle, passed away the evening of December 16, 2016 at his residence. Born on March 27, 1955 in Rochester, PA, he was the son of the late Howard and Catherine Black Stumpf. Surviving at home is his beloved wife, the former Gloria Rozzi, whom he married on August 22, 2009.


James retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years of service. He was a member of St. Vitus Church. He enjoyed playing golf, visiting casinos, and watching the Pittsburgh Pirates. James' greatest joy came from watching his grandchildren at all of their sporting and school events.


In addition to his wife, James is survived by his children, Nicole Fitzgerald and husband Andrew of Chippewa, PA, Jamal Soubra and wife Janine of New Castle, and Jenna Mozzocio and husband John of New Castle; brother, Gary Stumpf and wife Valerie of Rochester, PA; sister, Janet Krugh and husband James of Baden, PA; and fifteen grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Eric J. Stumpf, and his first wife, Cheryl L. Bonzo Stumpf.


Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory 3000 Wilmington Rd. A procession will leave the funeral home Wednesday at 9:30am to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am at St. Vitus Church, officiated by Father Joseph Codori.


Entombment will take place in Parkside Mausoleum where the New Castle Area Honor Guard will perform military rites.
