Donna Sylvain

Donna Jean Sylvain, age 60, of Shippensburg, PA, passed away at the Chambersburg Hospital on Friday, January 6, 2017. Born February 23, 1956, in Chelsea, MA, she was the daughter of Kathleen Cavanaugh Sylvain and the late Robert N. Sylvain. A U.S. Navy veteran, Donna served honorably from 1980 – 1986. She went on to work as a computer technician for the Pennsylvania Department of Motor Vehicles and then at Hewlett-Packard. Donna enjoyed watching and cheering for the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals. She was a gifted artist. An animal lover with a big heart, Donna had a weakness for adopting animals, especially those who needed special care. In addition to her mother, Donna is survived by two siblings, Mark R. Sylvain (wife Doreen) of Williamsport, MD and Dolores Sylvain Demich (husband Stanley) of Frederick, MD; her companion, Melinda J. Rockwell; a niece, Michelle Schuetrumpf (husband Jared) of Etters, PA; and a nephew, Christopher Sylvain of Martinsburg, WV. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at 11:30 AM in the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 333 Falling Spring Rd., Chambersburg, PA, where Rev. Murray Stevens will officiate. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, 5051 Letterkenny Rd. West, Chambersburg, PA 17201.
