Veril Eugene Holland, 71, of Franklin, passed away Friday, January 6, 2017. Born in Macon Co, he was the son of the late Troy Marion Holland and Margie May Belle Fox Holland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Holland. Veril was a US Air Force veteran and served during the Vietnam War. He worked as a building contractor, enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening and loved his animals. He was a life-member of Cullasaja Gorge Volunteer Fire Department and member of Sugarfork Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Deborah Ramey Holland; two sons, Devin Holland and Tracy and Aaron Holland and wife Kristin both of Franklin; two brothers, Richard Holland of Naples, FL and Edward Holland of Franklin; two sisters, Ina Mae Enloe of Webster, NC and Mildred Pennington of Franklin; two grandchildren, Daylon and Skyler Holland. Also surviving are Madison Lewis, Brooklynn Pendergrass, Kendall Burt and Jake Burt, who lovingly referred to him as “Papaw” and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 9th at Sugarfork Baptist Church. Rev. Gene Hawkins, Rev. Bobby Cloer and Rev. Greg Rogers will officiate with military rites conducted by VFW Post 7339 and American Legion Post 108. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9:00 p.m., Sunday, January 8th at Macon Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Skyler Holland, Daylon Holland, Jonathan Pennington, Dustin McDonald, Jeff Holland and Jake Burt. Members of Cullasaja Gorge VFD will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
