Wilbert McCormick

Wilbert McCormick was born January 22, 1942, the son of Dave McCormick and Mattie Jane McCormick. He passed away in his sleep on Friday, December 23, 2016. He was the youngest of five brothers and three sisters. He was born in Pineview Georgia. As a young man, he moved to Detroit Michigan. After a few years he moved to New York City, where he attended Lehman College in the Bronx, NY. Soon thereafter, he opened up a meat market on Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn, NY. In 1978, he met his wife Glenda. They had two children, Coarey and Crystal in Jamaica Queens, NY. He was a wonderful father who worked hard to ensure his family was well taken of. He enjoyed coming together with his family and friends for holidays and other occasions. He worked as a meat department manager and Butcher at Dean and DeLuca; an upscale grocery store. Later he worked for Matlyn Foods in Brooklyn, N.Y., where he retired due to ill health. While at home trying to regain his health, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, and listening to music. He was affectionately known to many as Willie, Man, Hawn, Bo uncle Willie, Pops, Granpers, Mr. McCormick, and of course Daddy. He is survived in loving memory by his wife Glenda McCormick, his brother Hiram McBurrow, his sister Delores Rhodes, his son Coarey Bennett, his daughter Crystal Marrast, son-in-law Wayne Marrast grandchildren Naisha Kennedy and Emanuel Marrast, his nephew Gordie Lawson; and all his nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and dear friends.
