Blondell Chandler Obituary

Blondell McFadden Chandler was born February 15, 1940 in Richland County, Columbia, South Carolina to the parents of the late Johnnie and Scottie McFadden-Guise. She entered eternity on December 29, 2016. Blondell received her education in the Richland County Public School system, and later, earned her License in Practical Nursing in Jamaica, New York. Afterwards, Blondell met the late Willie Edward Chandler of St. Albans, New York, in whom, she would often state that he was the love of her life, and they married on August 21, 1981. They were married over 30 years. Blondell loved her profession of nursing and served her patients loyally until her illness became overwhelming and to her dismay she would have to retire from the field of nursing. However, her retirement did not interrupt her love for her family and friends. Blondell continued her travels to visit her children in South Carolina and Texas. Her visits to her daughters and son brought her immense joy throughout the years. She was elated over her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s growth and development as well as their accomplishments. Their laughter and conversations brought so much happiness to her soul during those visits. Blondell was a generous and supportive individual and always sacrificed her comfort for the needs of family and friends. When a need was presented to her; there was no mountain too high that kept her from helping family and friends. Blondell was baptized at Rescue Church of Christ, Jamaica, New York in 1979. She was a member of Seniors On The Go. Those who have preceded Blondell in death are her husband--Edward Chandler, sister--Elmer Simmons, step-son Bernard Chandler, son-in-law--Alfonso Hatten, and a dear cousin Gennie Wilson. Remaining to grieve her absence are five children: Rufus(Hanna) and Gail (Curtis) Hudson-Hill, Waco, TX; Linda Hatten and Deborah(Nathaniel) Simmons of Columbia, SC; Jennifer(K. Linden) McNeil of Manassas, VA; one sister, Deaconess Johnnie Mae McFadden and brother, Julius Guise III of Jamaica, NY and one cousin Robert Jeffers of Charlotte, NC--inclusive of 9 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins galore. Blondell’s generous spirit and devoted love to her family will never be forgotten by her family and friends.
