East Millinocket – Nadine H. “Dimpy” Doe, 90, passed into the hands of her Lord and joined the love of her life, Willis “Lefty” Doe on Tuesday, December 6, 2016. She was born December 17, 1925 in Millinocket, the daughter of William and Matilda (Barnett) McLean. Dimpy grew up in Little Italy, and was a graduate of Stearns High School, in Millinocket. She married her sweetheart Willis “Lefty” Doe on January 1, 1944, and was a devoted wife of 70 years. For many years, Dimpy and Lefty enjoyed a vibrant social life, including attending American Legion state conventions, Winter Carnivals in Quebec, and her morning neighborhood coffee club. Dimpy’s life centered around being a dedicated homemaker and devoted mother to her son, John. Later, she was a full time Mammie to her only grandson, Christopher. Dimpy was a communicant of Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Parish throughout her life. She served as president for Feeney-Groves Post #13, American Legion Auxiliary, and proudly marched in the annual East Millinocket Memorial Day Parade for many years. For over 50 years, Dimpy and Lefty enjoyed spending time at Nesowadnehunk Lake with many special friends. Dimpy is survived by her son John A. Doe and daughter in law Sharon of East Millinocket; one grandson, Christopher Doe and his wife Samantha of South Portland; a brother in law, John H. Doe and his wife Carmen of Millinocket; a sister in law, Pauline McLean of East Millinocket; a sister in law, Marjorie Doe of Gloucester, Massachusetts; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to Lefty, she was predeceased by three sisters Dorothy Pound, Margaret Nickless, and Ruth Comeau; four brothers, Clayton, William, James, and Richard McLean; Mary and Arthur “Toom” Hersom; a sister in law, Josephine “Sis” Privott and her husband Bill; a brother in law, Wallace “Bo” Doe; and two special friends Lou Welch and Geraldine Wallace. The family would like to extend a very special thank you to her “girls”, Terri, Phyllis, Nikki, Julie, and Ivana, and also to Deacon Dan Watson and Father Bruce Siket. Friends are invited to visit with the family 4-7 P.M. Friday, December 9 at the Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 A.M. Saturday, December 10 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Peter’s Catholic Church, 58 Cedar St., East Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider, and Deacon Danny Watson, homilist. For those wishing to honor Dimpy in a special way, the family suggests wearing something purple, which was her favorite color, to her services.
