Mary Guimond

Millinocket – Mary Jane Guimond, 85, wife of the late Alex Guimond, Jr., passed away peacefully Monday, December 26, 2016 at a Millinocket health care facility, with family by her side. She was born April 16, 1931 in Millinocket, the daughter of Joyime P. and Mattie (Rossignol) Blanchette. Mary worked at W.T. Grants for many years, and always enjoyed gathering for coffee with her fellow “Grants Girls”. Mary also enjoyed going for walks, cross stitching, puzzles, and spending time with family and friends. Her love for children was endless, and children gravitated to her for her hugs, and affectionately called her “Miss Mary” and “Grammie Mary”. She always had a smile for everyone and was always called “sweet”. Those who knew Mary will remember her strong love for the Lord. Mary is survived by three children, Terry Guimond, Dana Guimond and his wife Mary, and Tammie Guimond, all of Millinocket; four grandchildren, Sheri, Peggy-Jo, Jennifer, and Christine; several great grandchildren; a sister Leona Osborn; a brother, Paul Blanchette and his wife Helen; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She also will be missed by a very special niece, Nancy Streams. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by a daughter, Joyce Ann Guimond, a son, Alan Guimond, and siblings and their spouses, Camille Blanchette and his wife Gloria, Rita Mattall and her husband Kenneth, Wilfred Blanchette, Patricia Quackenbush, and Leo Blanchette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 A.M. Thursday, December 29 at Christ the Divine Mercy Parish, St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 19 Colby Street, Millinocket, with the Rev. Bruce Siket, pastor, presider. Spring interment will be at the Millinocket Cemetery. Gifts in memory of Mary may be sent to the Katahdin Area Support Group, P.O. Box 374, Millinocket, ME 04462. Arrangements are by Lamson Funeral Home, Millinocket.
