Ronald Duane Huntley Obituary

Ronald Duane Huntley, the son of Leroy and Lois (Carr) Huntley, was born August 30, 1945, in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at Veteran's Administration Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, at the age of 71.

He received his early education in the Estherville schools. The family moved and he completed his education in the Winnebago, Minnesota schools and graduated from Winnebago High School in 1962. Ron served in the United States Army from 1968 - 1972 during the Vietnam War. Following his honorable discharge he returned to the area. He attended Advanced Schools Inc. in Chicago, Illinois, in 1974 and graduated as a Certified Auto Mechanic. In the later 1970's and early 1980's Ron owned and operated two gas stations; East-side Standard Station in Blue Earth, Minnesota in the 80's and Ron's Texaco in Emmetsburg, Iowa in the 1970's. He later worked as a Senior Fiberglass foreman in Forest City, Iowa and then later in the 1980's at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center of Blue Earth in the Maintenance Department. In the 1990's he worked at Garden Court Apartments in Winnebago as the Maintenance Director and later Granada- Huntley-East Chain Schools as bus driver and maintenance. He then went to work in maintenance for Adolescent Treatment Center in Winnebago. Later he was employed part-time in maintenance at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth. He finished out his working career at Nuvex Ingredients in Blue Earth. Ron held a First Class Boiler License in the State of Minnesota. On December 7, 2011, Ron was united in marriage to Jennifer Nelson. The couple was currently residing in Jackson, Minnesota. In his leisure time Ron enjoyed being outdoors hunting, fishing, camping and he owned several muscle cars that brought him great joy to work on and restore. Ron himself could often be found under the hood of his race cars and behind the steering wheel at race tracks in Iowa and Minnesota. Ron earned "track champion" at the Worthington Race Track in the 70's.

Left to cherish Ron's memory are his wife, Jennifer of Jackson; his children Ron (Melinda) Rosewall of Marcus, Iowa, Travis Cole (Michelle) of Estherville, Iowa. Sister Edith (Robert) Mutschler of Bricelyn and brother J.R. (Ann) of Blue Earth; several nieces and nephews and grandchildren.

He has been preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Oscar Lee (1961).
