Daniel Riley

Daniel E. Riley, Sr., 94, of Dawsonville passed away Sunday January 1, 2017 at Tanglewood Assisted Living. Born August 17, 1922 in Moundsville, WV to the late John and Agnes Riley, he had lived in Dawson County since 2008 having moved from Lula. Mr. Riley was an automobile mechanic for 50 years and worked for Camp Chevrolet until his retirement. A graduate of Woodrow Wilson Law School, he also served as a Dekalb County Deputy Sheriff for 20 years and worked as a real estate agent and appraiser. He was a U. A. Army veteran of WW II and prior to entering the military he worked with the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Surviving are his son and daughter in law, Daniel E., Jr, and Angie Riley, Dawsonville; grandchildren, Miranda Riley, Nathan Riley, Alex McLean, Allen McLean; great grandchildren, Brayden Gibbs, Adalynn Gibbs; and a sister, Carol Hammond, Washington, PA. Funeral services will be held Thursday January 5, 2017 at 11 o’clock at Bearden Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Tony Allison will officiate. Interment will follow at Georgia National Cemetery at 1:30.
