Oscar Hurlburt Obituary

Hurlburt, Oscar Benjamin- age 95, of Rockville passed away on December 12th, 2016. Born in Salem, N.S. in 1921 he was the son of the late Elijah and Annie (Atkinson) Hurlburt. Oscar was a kind and gentle man, who had love for his family and friends. He also enjoyed the Blue Jays, hunting, gardening, fishing and his dog Sophie. He was a one of a kind dad to his sons; Willard (Alicia), Yarmouth, Jimmie (Ginny), Ontario and daughter; Doreen (Bruce) Wellington and his much loved sister Mildred of Yarmouth. Oscar was a loving grandfather to; Troy, Gail, Angie, Jennifer, Amy, Tanya, Cody, Jordan, Kay, Rob and Barb as well as a proud little Grampie to 20 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased his loved wife Geraldine (Nickerson), daughter; Joy, Sisters; Alice, Florence, Ethel, Bessie, Evelyn and his only brother Arthur. Special thank you to Gentle Care Boarding Home and friends for loving him, 4-East and Dr. Marais for being so kind to Dad and us. There are angels among us. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place Wednesday December 14th, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. from Sweenys Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday December 15th, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiating. Interment will be in Chebogue Cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimers Society or the Chebogue Cemetery Fund .
