Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father Lloyd Howard Nickerson on Saturday December 17th, 2016 at the Villa St Joseph du Lac.
Dad’s life was full of song, family, friends, and praise to the Lord.
He was a veteran of World War II, in the Signals Corps. He especially loved playing baseball. He played with and was a founding member the Overton Outlaws and loved watching the BlueJays play (Go JAYS!), hunting, playing cards, especially with his brother, and spent many years as a Scout Leader.
He worked at the Ice Cream plant and retired from the Yarmouth Hospital where he spent several years in the Stores and Porter’s departments.
Lloyd was a leader in his church, Faith Memorial Baptist in Overton, for his entire life with many roles including: deacon, Sunday school leader, sound man at the outdoor services at the ball field, and always in the tenor section of the choir.
Lloyd is survived by the love of his life Joyce Elizabeth Nickerson, his sweetheart and wife of 69 years, who he loved very much and was able to be with until the end. His beloved daughters: Nancy (Edward) Watkins, Rebecca (Rhys) Williams and Faith (Hartmut) Stoll all of Yarmouth County. His pride and joy, his grandchildren: Adrian (Meredith) Watkins, Jonathan (Kassandra) Watkins, Angela (Owen) Surette all of Yarmouth County, Jeremy (Shannon) Watkins, Thomas (Jennifer) Stoll of Moncton, and Michael Stoll (Erin Munro), of New Glasgow.
His special and much cherished great-grandchildren: Jesse and Brandon Watkins, Hunter, Lucy, Chase and Max Watkins, Emma and Jade Surette, Azaleah and Madeline Watkins and Jackson (soon-to-be) Stoll. A brother Arnold Nickerson, Overton, sisters Iona Pineo, South Ohio and Betty Davis, Sydney, N.S.
He was predeceased by his mother and father Arnold and Blanche (Watkins) Nickerson and sisters Muriel Killam and Joyce Robicheau of Overton and Doris Wentzell, Bridgewater, N.S.
We as a family are very grateful to the Villa St Joseph du Lac for their care and consideration as they provided for Dad during the last couple of years. They provided a safe and loving place for him and arranged for him and our Mother to be together until the end.
Beloved by so many and loved by all, Dad will be missed here but is now at home with the Lord. Dad loved his sweetheart all his life and will be waiting for her in heaven.
Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital Foundation or another charity of your choice.
