Joseph Mueller

Mueller, Joseph “Joe” Matheus- age 87, of Yarmouth N.S. passed away December 15th ,2016. Born in Dusseldorf, Germany on November 28th, 1929 he was the son of the late Matheus and Agnes (Kettle) Mueller. In Germany Joe worked as a druggist before immigrating to Tillsonburg, Ontario in 1956. In Ontario Joe became well known for his innovative window displays. He was always the life of the party which led to him opening “Joe’s Joke and Party Shop”. While living in Ontario Joe became an avid sailor and served as commander of the Tillsonburg Ontario Power and Sail Squadron. His love for the sea eventually brought him to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia where he loved to work in his yard and watch the boats go by. Most recently he enjoyed spending time with his special friend Irene Surette. He is survived by his daughter; Margaret Witt, Stepsons; Marc and Eve, Grandsons; Colby (Sherri) Sweeney, Bevan (Laura) Sweeney, Granddaughters; Heidi (Shannon) King, Karni Sweeney and Jessie (Patrick) Sweeney, 3 step grandsons and 7 great grandchildren. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife Ilse Wissfeld and second wife Réjeane Drouin. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. There will be no funeral service or visitation at family request. Donations in memory may be made to Diabetes Association of Nova Scotia.
